Welcome to The Connected Church news!

Our first big news of this week is from YouTube, and it’s an important one, especially about videos that you have uploaded on YouTube before 2017.

Source: YouTube

So if you have uploaded any videos before 2017, and you’ve made it ‘Unlisted’… the reason you will make it ‘Unlisted’ is that you wanted to take those videos and embed them on a website, or in another third party page, or social media, or something like that… if you have done that, YouTube is saying those videos will all be made ‘Private’ after July 23, 2021.

If you don’t take any action, they will automatically be made as private videos, which means wherever you’ve embedded them, those embeds will not work. These are applicable only to videos that got uploaded before 2017. So please go back, go to your Youtube Studio, check out all the videos that you have uploaded before 2017. If you have any ‘Unlisted’ ones, then take one of these 4 actions. I will link to the details of the 4 actions that YouTube wants you to take before that cutoff date (23rd July 2021). Do have a look at them, and pass it on to your social media team, or your video team. Ask them to take one of these actions. Otherwise all the embeds that you have made will not be functional for those videos that got uploaded before 2017.
