WhatsApp has brought end-to-end encryption to chat backups. You all know that WhatsApp Messaging was encrypted. But now backups are also encrypted. Earlier, when you tried backing up, you would have got a message saying this backup wherever you’re storing it either on iCloud or some other cloud service, in iOS or Android, that was not encrypted. But now going forward, in the next few weeks, you will be able to encrypt your chat backups as well. The important thing is: WhatsApp will ask you to choose between two methods. Either a password or a 64-digit key generation system. I will link to the article in the show notes, do have a look. Because there are a few steps involved. It will be good for you to understand what those steps are, so that when this is rolled out to you, you can quickly make a decision on how you want to encrypt your chat backups.
