Welcome to The Connected Church News!
Our next news of this week is from Messenger.
The final news of this week is from Messenger. And its also about Instagram, because this is an interesting feature that Facebook Messenger has launched. It is a step towards integrating Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp’s messaging backends. What this announcement says is, there are actually quite a few announcements as part of this article, but the key announcement is, you can now start a group chat on Messenger and invite people from Instagram to join that group chat! So it’s basically cross-app group chatting facility, which has multiple use cases, especially for churches and ministries.
See, the thing with being a Ministry is, your congregation or your audience are spread out on all these different apps – some people like WhatsApp, some people like Instagram (DM), some people like (Facebook) Messenger. So, instead of asking them to move platforms, you can now start having this idea of a group chat, or a group Ministry platform, where you can start something and invite people from all the other platforms, and still be able to use what you like to use, and what works for you as a Ministry. So a big move from Messenger. And there are also other interesting announcements like Polls, and Watch Together feature, and other things chat themes.
Note: This news item is part of the weekly news show, The Connected Church News, that collects the Top 5 Digital and Social Media News each week for leaders of churches, ministries or christian nonprofit, and presents it to them in 5 mins.
