Our first big news of this week is from Instagram. Last week, Instagram announced that they are releasing a new feature called Video Tab. Basically, what they’re doing is they’re doing away with the brand called IGTV. And they’re merging both IGTV and videos on Instagram news feed. So both the videos from the feed and IGTV videos will now live under one tab called Video Tab. That’s going to have a video symbol, like an icon, ’Play’ icon on your app. It’s being rolled out, soon you will see all the videos living in that space. It’s a very interesting move. We know that Instagram started saying that they are not a photo platform but they are a video platform going forward. So now they are starting to bring these changes that gives prominence and importance to videos. And this announcement also has details about how the analytics are changing.

They are bringing a new analytics that covers both these video related insight. They are also making changes to video ads. Now they are coming up with a new ad called ‘Instagram instream’ ads, which again aligns with Facebook’s terminology of ‘Instream’, and few related announcements about videos on Instagram. Quite a big and important announcement, so do take a look.
