Welcome to The Connected Church news!
This news is from Google Maps.
Our first big news of the week is from Google. Last week, Google made an important announcement that they are adding messaging capability inside Google Maps and Search.
This could be an important thing for churches, ministries and nonprofits, especially ministries that have a location based work. For example, churches. When people look up your name on Google, Google search is what most people start with. At least new people who want to come to your church or to your ministries location, they look up for your name and invariably they land up on the maps. And in the maps, they look at your location. And now they will be able to message you. Google is adding a prominent message button, so people will message you, they may talk to you, they may ask you important questions and this opens up a great way for you to have one-on-one conversations inviting them to your church, inviting them to your ministry.
I think it’s a big opportunity that you should take advantage of. This is available only for verified Google My Business profiles, which means you need to claim your Google My Business settings. So I highly recommend you do that. Pass this information on to your tech team or your church media team and ask them to have a look at it. I think this could be important.
