Whatsapp Adds Passkey Option Using Face, Fingerprint or Pin to Unlock

WhatsApp announced last week that they are bringing passkey access option to the app. Passkey access is basically using your face or your touch ID, which is a biometric way of logging in, to unlock the app. More and more accounts like X, Twitter platform, TikTok and LinkedIn are adopting this new way of logging in to the account because it is safer. And it uses advanced cryptography. So from a privacy standpoint, it is a good move. WhatsApp has been talking about end to end encryption and privacy as one of its biggest selling points when it comes to various private messaging platforms out there. This is something that will help WhatsApp move forward in that direction. This particular announcement was for Android users, especially considering that Google has also been pushing the adoption of passkeys, it makes total sense.
