In an interesting move, X Twitter platform announced that they are testing a new annual subscription program that costs $1. And this is not for existing subscribers. This is for new unverified accounts. So the announcement says new unverified accounts will be required to sign up for a $1 annual subscription to be able to post and interact with other posts. But X is very clear, they say this is not a profit driver. It says this is an effort to reduce spam, manipulation of the platform. And for bot activity. Mainly to avoid bot activity. You might’ve noticed that X recently had trouble with lots of bots on the platform. So it seems like they’re trying to find ways to get around that challenge.
