This week, we have news about OpenAI, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, AI, YouTube, X.

🗞️ News 1: OpenAI says, Now ChatGPT has a ‘Memory’ & it can Remember/Forget Info

OpenAI said last week that they are building a ‘Memory’ functionality inside ChatGPT. This functionality is meant to make ChatGPT more useful by remembering some of the personalization and customization that you would like inside the tool, and use that to make future conversations easier. You can not only tell ChatGPT to remember something, but you can also tell it to forget something. If you go into settings and click on personalization, you will come to a section called Memory. There you can turn on and off this new memory setting. You can also clear all the memories that the chat has accumulated. based on your conversations in the past. Could be a useful feature because one of the pain points has been the need for repeating instructions. again and again. The important detail that you don’t want to miss is a term that says, “we may use this content that you provide, including memories to improve our models for everyone”. Something to keep in mind.

🗞️ News 2: YouTube Studio Mobile gets Upload Option; New Community Post Feed

YouTube made two useful announcements last week. As a creator, you can now upload your videos directly from your (mobile) camera roll using your YouTube Studio app along with additional controls including monetization control. This was something that you were not able to do on mobile. You had to go to your desktop to tweak monetization control. But now you can do that on your mobile app itself, which could be handy. You will see a plus button right at the top of the app, and you can just click that and you can use the feature. The second feature is also important for ministries and non-profits. YouTube says that they are testing a new Community Post Feed. So it’s almost like a Facebook newsfeed with only posts, not YouTube videos, just posts, Community posts. The announcement says there will be a button called ‘View All Posts’ in the Home tab. Once you click on it, you’ll be able to see the Community Post Feed.

🗞️ News 3: X Announces a New ‘Creator Targeting’ Option within its Ads Manager

X announced last week that they are releasing a new ads option called Creator Targeting. This is an ad option that gives you the possibility of running your ads with direct exposure to the audience of certain creators. And not just normal creators, these are premium curated list of creators like Mr. Beast. The announcement says that they are “giving advertisers more control over this and the ability to use self-serve X Ads Manager to run ads against the content of their chosen creator”. This announcement is in line with X’s focus which is to be a ‘video first’ platform. So they’re starting to release ads and other options inside Ads Manager that help video reach. If you have a specific creator who can help your non-profit or ministry on the X platform, then this might be an option for you to check out.

🗞️ News 4: Google Bard is Rebranded to Gemini; New ‘Advanced’ Paid Plan Released

Google made multiple AI related announcements last week. First is the rebranding of their Chatbot tool. The Chatbot tool, which was called Bard, is now called Gemini. Simply Gemini. Which was the name of the model that originally powered this Chatbot tool. Now when you go to the website, bard.google.com, it takes you to gemini.google.com. The next announcement was the release of a new powerful model called Gemini Ultra 1.0, which has advanced AI capabilities. The more important news item is the release of a new paid plan called Gemini Advanced, giving you access to this advanced Ultra model and various other things. What I like about this announcement is the way they have packaged it into Google One. Basically what Google is saying is we will package AI into everything, which is a route that Microsoft has also taken by bundling Copilot into Microsoft Office 365.

🗞️ News 5: LinkedIn Launches a New ‘Media Planning API’ for Agencies & Marketers

LinkedIn announced last week that they are releasing a new tool called Media Planning API, which is meant to help agencies plan their campaign with additional information or data. When you’re planning a campaign, it’s important to have as much information as possible, and this API is meant to provide that information to ad partners of LinkedIn. This API includes data points from LinkedIn, like demographics, job roles, industries, online behaviors, etc. So based on this, you can plan your budget, you can plan your reach, you can basically plan your ROI, Return on Investment much better when you are designing campaigns for LinkedIn. So that is the purpose of this particular tool. So if you as a non-profit, church or ministry use LinkedIn ads, and if you work with agencies that are LinkedIn ad partners, then this is something you might want to discuss with them about.
