Meta announced that they are participating in the Lantern Program. Lantern is a program that brings together various technology companies to ensure online child safety. This is led by an organization called Tech Coalition. This announcement says “Lantern enables technology companies to share a variety of signals about accounts and behaviors that violate child safety policies. Lantern participants…”, which includes big names like Google and other tech players, “…can use this information to conduct investigations on their own platforms and take action”. So the idea is for tech companies to come together, share information and signals about potential accounts that may be violating child safety regulations, and make the entire ecosystem safer for children.
