Last week I was at a conference, and we had this conversation about TikTok. There was this question that a church leader asked me and I wanted to talk to you about that in today’s #AskNatchi show.

The question was “How do I get started on TikTok?”.

He said, “I’ve been looking at TikTok, I went through all the posts. I’ve been looking at it for quite some time, but I can’t seem to understand how it works. I don’t know where to get started. So what is the best way to get started on TikTok?” That was the question.

And I asked him, “Do you have an account on TikTok?”.

He said, “No.”

I said, “Start there.”

See, the best way to understand any social media is to actually get on it. Get on it, create an account… You don’t have to post, but at least watch what people are doing.

Watch how people are responding, watch what works, watch what other people are posting, the popular accounts and try to learn from that. And think about and see if that is something, a good fit if that could be a good fit for your ministry.

Unless you do that, you will only have theoretical knowledge. I can talk to you all day about TikTok strategies and 10 things to do and so on. But all that will be a theory, right?

Unless you actually work on it… Until you actually experience it, you are not going to understand whether it’s a good fit for you. Because while it’s not a good fit for everybody, it’s also a good fit for a lot of ministries, especially the ones that want to reach a specific group of people, in a particular style of ministry. So definitely check it out.

That’s what I would say; first, put your hand into it, jump into it and don’t be afraid and check it out and spend 2 or 3 weeks on the platform and see if it’s a good fit.
